I am delighted to announce details of our first organised workshop with Strong Island media.
On Saturday 20th April we have arranged a Photography walk for pupils to learn the basics of handling a DSLR camera. This session will also include feedback and technical advice on how to improve your photography in a number of areas…details below
The students will meet at the D-Day Museum carpark on Southsea seafront at 11am and from there walk to Gunwharf. We will stop off at different points on the way to photograph particular scenes, objects, etc. The route will include Southsea Castle, The Bandstand, The Victory Monument, Clarence Pier, The Spur Redoubt & Nelson’s Bridge, Garrison Church, The Square & Round Towers & The Hotwalls, Old Portsmouth and The Camber. Depending on time one or more of these locations may be skipped or other locations on the walk included.
There will be a focus upon composition, textures and use of depth of field to show mood and create atmosphere within your images.
The walks end with a late lunch at 2pm at Pizza Express where a buffet will be provided. The cost of the buffet is included in the cost of the workshop walk. After lunch the students will pick their favourite photos from their cameras and share with fellow student and staff for an informal critique on technical skills used, compositional techniques, etc.
At 3pm the students will be taken to the pickup point at Gunwharf ready for them to be picked up by their parents.
Spaces are limited to a maximum number of 15. We will be organising more of these if demand is there…letters will be out soon
Watch this space for details of when the letters will be issued.
